What we need to do first is turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on the right-hand side of the phone

Once the phone is activated, we are going to swipe up

We are on the Home screen now, and we need to access the People's application, which is the People tile up top

If you do not have the People's tile on the Home screen, then you are going to need to go to the App menu by scrolling across the phone screen from right to left

Scroll down to find the People's app. You can PIN it to the Home screen if you so desire.

Back at the Contacts screen, if we swipe left, we also have What's New, set up account

If we want to set up our account, we can do that by pressing on set up account. We have a number of accounts, from Facebook to several others.

Check to make sure everything is set up as you wish it to be, and then tap the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

So the account is added

We also have Rooms, which includes Family Rooms, and we have Groups. These can be found by scrolling to the right past the Setup Account screen.

Back under Rooms, you will see Family Rooms

We also have another group, Best Friends

When you click on that the group-specific screen will come up

It says, Tag Members to add to your best friends. Then you can use the group to see social updates for just those folks or text them all at once.

We can also use the icon with the two people to add someone to the group

If we press the ellipsis again at the Whats New screen, this will bring up settings. Press on that to go to settings.

We've got filter contact list, which will pick which accounts we'll see and those we don't want to see

Import from SIM is very useful if you have a SIM card, and you need to import from your SIM card

Further down, we can sort by first name or last name, display name by first or last name

Just below these options, you will have the option to use your location, which you can switch on or off with the sliding switch

A final option asks if we want to "Save check-in searches and locations with my Microsoft account to improve search results." Check this box, and it just allows Microsoft to have more information about you
