Losing your phone or forgetting the lock screen password or pattern can an inconvenient occurrence, to say the least. If you're someone that keeps everything on their device or uses it frequently for personal or professional reasons, leaving it somewhere unattended for any length of time, is a definite no-no.
Samsung, being one of the world's most popular device manufacturers, provides a solution for the above-mentioned scenarios called, Find My Mobile. An application that ships with all their mobile devices that allows the user to control their phones/tablets remotely, from anywhere, providing the service is enabled and the phone is connected to the internet.
Using Find My Mobile is quite easy and only requires you to create an account one-time, right on the device. Once your account is active, you can set it and forget it. To locate, ring, lock/unlock, retrieve logs, or wipe your device remotely, you simply need access to an internet browser and the email/password you created on your phone. From the easy-to-use user interface you can secure your phone in the event you misplace it or it gets stolen.
Method 1: Marshmallow
To get started you need to enable Remote Controls on your phone, as well as create a Samsung account (if it's your first time accessing).
Once your account is created, you can leave remote controls on all the time. This will ensure you'll be able to access it remotely, in the event it gets lost or misplaced.
Method 2: Lollipop
To begin using Find My Mobile you'll need to enable Remote controls and create a Samsung account.
Method 3: Initial Login
Once you've created a Samsung account and enabled remote controls, you need to sign in and read and accept the terms and conditions.
Method 4: Remotely Control your Device
Now that you've enabled the app, created an account, and agreed to the terms, it's time to have some fun and remotely control your device. If you're continuing from the previous section of this guide, you should still be signed in. Remember to locate your device, you need to have both location services and WiFi/data turned on.
