- 10For more information, refer to our tutorials on how to create basic shapes and how to get perfect shapes. You can quickly draw a shape by clicking "Rectangle Tool".
- 11The icon looks similar to a grid and is near the bottom-left corner of the vertical toolbar. The artboard is the document area including objects and empty spaces. The edge of your canvas will now appear as a dotted line with crosspoints in the corners.Once you have a shape, click "Artboard Tool" in the vertical toolbar.
- 12It works in the same way that you would make a rectangle larger or smaller. The dotted line shows you the edge of your new artboard, and you can change the size of it by clicking and dragging the corners. Note that pressing and holding the "Shift" key on your keyboard while resizing keeps the proportions of your canvas. A green line may appear when you come to the edge of your object. The green line is the way of guessing where you want the edge of your document to be. Sometimes, Illustrator does not judge well and may cut off parts of your object. It's recommended to leave some space around the edge of your object so you don't accidentally cut it, especially if you will be printing the document. You can click the corners or sides to expand or shrink (crop) the artboard.
