To begin, ensure that you have Adobe Illustrator open and your document ready

There are three different objects on the artboart: the blue rectangle in the background, a red circle, and a yellow rectangle.

Click the "Selection Tool" black arrow

It is in the top-left corner of the toolbar.

Click the object you want to edit

You can also use other selection tools if you have more complicated objects. There are other VisiHow tutorials on how to do that. A blue frame will appear around the object, indicating that it is ready for editing. Let's click the rectangle then.

Click "Effects" at the top

Move the cursor to "Distort & Transform..." within the "Illustrator Effects" section

Then, click "Transform..." from the menu

A dialogue box will appear.

You can click and drag the "Transform Effect" box to move it to the side of the artboard

Then, check the "Preview" button in the bottom-left corner of the box

Now, you can begin to transform your shape.

You can adjust the "Horizontal" and "Vertical" percentage of "Scale" by clicking and dragging their scrollers to the left and right of the spectrum

You can also type a percentage in the boxes to the right side.

Next, you can adjust the "Horizontal" and "Vertical" values of "Move"
.
This shifts the entire shape horizontally or vertically.

You can also adjust the "Angle" degree of the shape by clicking within the circle
.
This will change the angle. Again, you can manually type the degree in the box next to it.

You can then further edit the "Options" items by checking and unchecking them

These depend on your object as to whether or not it will make a difference. A rectangle is, perhaps, too simple; but it's recommended that you experiment with these settings.

Finally, you can adjust the number of copies you would like to have by typing a number in "Copies"

You can click "Cancel" to discard the changes

Once you're satisfied with the settings, simply click "OK" to apply the changes
