Follow the steps in the VisiHow article as well as the suggestions posted on this page from contributors. Your phone probably just needs to power cycle through Network Mode again.

Perform a hard reset and then check your IMEI number by dialing (*#06# ) without parenthesis. Compare this number with your box if you still have it or the back of the phone under the battery. You will also want to search for your carrier's APN settings and configure those again. Hopefully, you did not damage any EFS files when rooting your phone.

Check to see if you enabled Airplane Mode. Then go into Settings to Network Mode and choose the GSM/HSPA auto connect. This should resolve your issue but you may need a new SIM if you then set the APN again and the phone will not work.

Change your GSM settings to Auto Connect. It should resolve your problem but if not then your APN should be reconfigured as well.
