Edited by Grimm, Alexander Avdeev, Eng, VisiHow
Welcome to VisiHow! This is a tutorial on how to sign into a Microsoft Office 365 account for business, work, or school.
Steps
1
To begin with, we need to open our web browser
.
In this tutorial, the Google Chrome browser is used.
2
3
We press the "Enter" key on the keyboard
.
We'll be taken to the Microsoft Office portal page, where we'll clearly see "Office 365" on top. We'll be given the option to sign in with our work or school account. Each of the input fields will initially appear as yellow on some browsers like Google Chrome. However, once we fill in our data, they'll become white. In this case, a work account is used.
4
We click on the first input field to enter the email address
.
In this example, it is possible to select the previous address from the drop-down menu.
5
We click the next field below
.
6
If we have entered the password before for the associated email account, the password will be already entered.
7
We can click "Keep me signed in"
.
It means that the next time we go to the web site, we won't have to sign in. We'll be simply able to click our account and go directly into it.
8
We need to find the "Sign in" button now
.
The button is a blue rectangular box beneath our password and the "Keep me signed in" check area.
9
In the event we try to sign in but are unable to, we should view a VisiHow tutorial on what to do if we cannot access our account, where we explain each of the steps to go through to access the account out of which you are currently locked out or into which you cannot get
.
10
To proceed, we click "Sign in"
.
Once we click "Sign in", we'll be on the main Office portal page. To confirm that, we can check the web address field of the browser, where it should say "
https://portal.office.com/Home". There are several places where we can go to from this page.
11
We can access our email by clicking on the "Mail" icon
.
12
We can access our calendar by clicking on the "Calendar" icon
.
13
We can access our list of people by clicking on the "People" icon
.
14
We can access our news feed by clicking on the "News feed" icon
.
15
We can access our Microsoft OneDrive by clicking on the "OneDrive" icon
.
16
We can access Microsoft sites by clicking on the "Sites" icon
.
17
We can access our Microsoft tasks by clicking on the "Tasks" icon
.
18
Additionally, we'll be able to access Microsoft Word Online by clicking on the "Word Online" icon
.
19
We'll be able to access Microsoft Excel Online by clicking on the "Excel Online" icon
.
20
We'll be able to access Microsoft PowerPoint Online by clicking on the "PowerPoint Online" icon
.
21
We'll be able to access Microsoft OneNote Online by clicking on the "OneNote Online" icon
.
22
Further, we can click "Admin" to access our administrator panel if we have the rights
.
The administrator panel allows us to access quite a few different options, such as managing, editing, adding new users, deleting new users, and making otherwise relatively significant changes to our Microsoft account.
23
Wherever we'd like to go with our Microsoft Office Online account, we can simply click the tile that corresponds to the function we'd like to access
.
24
Alternatively, anytime we are in any of the options, we'll be able to move the cursor to the top left-hand site and click the icon
.
The icon has a series of white boxes. One click on that icon will open up the master panel, where we have the access to exactly the same set of options as before.
25
Whichever option we click, it will get us into the application
.
Then, once more, we'll be able to click the icon with a series of white boxes to access the main menu from any part of the site.
26
Should we choose not to click any of the options on the master panel, we can click anywhere outside of it to close it
.

Questions and Answers
What do I type for the username?
I know to write my name but what do I write after it. I have tried: @kyschools.ktu.us
The mail server part (the text after "@") matches the one from the email address that you check. If you have not set up your Microsoft account, then use our tutorial on how to set it up.
