You're watching VisiHow. In this video, we're going to show how to take the domain that we registered in another tutorial on DreamHost and set up FTP access to it through the program called Dreamweaver.
Steps
1
2
In Dreamweaver, click the "Files" drop-down menu
.
3
Click "Manage Sites..." from the files sub-menu
.
4
Choose to add an additional site by clicking the "New Site" button
.
5
Type the name into the text box next to "Site Name"
.
For this tutorial, the web site will be named as "Xonlo".
6
Now, click the icon to the right of the second text box in order to choose a "Local Site Folder"
.
7
Now, click the "Documents" folder on the left side of the pop-up box
.
8
Then, click the "New Folder" button at the bottom of this window
.
9
10
11
12
13
Now, double-click the site name
.
In this case, "Xonlo" is double-clicked.
14
In the "Site Setup" window, click the "Server" icon
.
15
Click the "Add new Server" button
.
16
Type the name in "Server Name"
.
For this tutorial, let's type "Dreamhost" in this box. You'll connect to the site using FTP.
17
Check the "FTP user" name. In this video, it's "xonloadmin".
18
It's the same as on the "Manage Domains" page. In this video, it's "xonloadmin".
19
Copy the password for the FTP user from DreamHost to the "Password" field
.
20
Copy the FTP address from DreamHost to the "FTP Address" field
.
It's "supervisor.dreamhost.com" in this video.
21
Click the "Test" button now
.
If the information entered above is correct, the test should be successful. There is no connection to the site in this tutorial. It will be fixed.
22
Then, click "Manage Users" at the DreamHost page
.
You will need to make sure you keep the same type of account in the "Manage Users" area of the DreamHost account. In the case of "xonlo", it is an sftp-type account.
23
In Dreamweaver, click the "Connect using" drop-down menu
.
24
Click the matching connection type
.
It's "SFTP" in this video.
25
If you forget the information that you have just entered, you can go back to your DreamHost account and click "Edit" next to the user name on the "Manage Users" page
.
26
In the window that appears after clicking "Edit", you can set up a different username and password and then save the changes
.
27
Click the "Test" button again
.
28
After you receive the "Dreamweaver connected to your Web server successfully" message from the test, click "OK"
.
29
30
Click "Save" once again on the site set-up window
.
31
Click "OK" if a pop-up Windows shows up
.
32
Now, you can connect to your site by clicking the "Connect" icon in Dreamweaver CC
.
The icon is on the "File" panel. Folders appear below the icon showing what has been installed on the site. In this case, there is a basic WordPress installation.
33
You can synchronize everything by clicking the "Get files from remote server" icon
.
This icon looks like an arrow pointing down.
34
This option will basically take everything that was in OneClick Installer and put it on your local computer so that you have access to that information

Questions and Answers
Why is the synchronization on FTP so slow compared to the other tools?
I am using Dreamwaver but it is slow, so I am still using Filezilla for transferring files. I am using Dreamwaver but it is slow, so I am still using Filezilla for transferring files.
