Set Up Your Windows 7 Computer As Media Server for Your PS3

This is a tutorial for setting up your Windows as a media streaming device for your PS3. There are a lot of ways to enable this feature and we're going to show you the easiest way to do this on Windows 7.
==Setting Up Windows 7 as a Media Streaming Device==
#First you have to open Windows Media Center. [[Image:Creatura_1.png|630px]] 
#Now go to the Settings. [[Image:Creatura_2.png|630px]] 
#Click on Media Libraries. [[Image:Creatura_3.png|630px]] 
#Choose Music and click OK. Note that this method works for any other file types so if you want to stream Pictures just choose Pictures and so on.[[Image:Creatura_4.png|630px]]  
#Now since we're adding directories to the streaming server you have to tick Add Folders To The Library and click next[[Image:Creatura_5.png|630px]] 
# Tick On This Computer and click next[[Image:Creatura_6.png|630px]] 
#Next you choose the directory of the media you're going to stream[[Image:Creatura_7.png|630px]] 
#Now just agree by ticking Yes. [[Image:Creatura_8.png|630px]] 
#The Media Center setup part is complete and you can close that window. From here on you'll need to set up your streaming options.
==Setting Up Streaming Options from Windows==
#Open the Control Panel[[Image:Creatura_9.png|630px]] 
#Search for Media Streaming and click on Media Streaming Options under Network And Sharing Center[[Image:Creatura_10.png|630px]] 
#If you have not turned this feature previously then this window will open and you just have to click Turn On Media Streaming. Now a warning will pop up and just go ahead and agree to that.[[Image:Creatura_11.png|630px]] 
#You want to make sure that you have enabled to show devices on all networks[[Image:Creatura_12.png|630px]] 
#Now you will see an Unknown device which actually is your PS3. All you have to do here is to allow access.[[Image:Creatura_13.png|630px]] 
#Now the Windows setup part is complete. 
==Setting Up Your PS3 to Play Media from Windows 7==
#Turn on your PS3 system and go to Settings[[Image:Creatura_14.jpg|630px]] 
#Scroll all the way down to the Network Settings. Note that if you already have an internet connection with your local network you can skip to step 8.[[Image:Creatura_15.jpg|630px]] 
#Go to Internet Connection Settings.[[Image:Creatura_16.jpg|630px]] 
#Just click OK here[[Image:Creatura_17.jpg|630px]] 
#In most cases you can just choose the easy setup here.[[Image:Creatura_18.jpg|630px]] 
#The PS3 will try to find the easiest way possible to setup your connection. Just wait for it.[[Image:Creatura_19.jpg|630px]] 
#Now choose your type of connection and follow the onscreen instructions.[[Image:Creatura_20.jpg|630px]] 
#Since the internet connection is established you have to enable the Media Server Connection option.[[Image:Creatura_21.jpg|630px]] 
#Now go to the desired media. In our case we used Music. Choose Search For Media Servers.[[Image:Creatura_22.jpg|630px]] 
#This is going to take a little while so be patient.[[Image:Creatura_23.jpg|630px]] 
#The screen will show you that a media server has been found[[Image:Creatura_24.jpg|630px]] 
#Now you will see your Streaming Device here. Press X.[[Image:Creatura_25.jpg|630px]] 
#Next you can choose what media to play.[[Image:Creatura_26.jpg|630px]] 
#This step is all up to you. [[Image:Creatura_27.jpg|630px]] 
#You'll see all the music files that you're streaming from your Windows.[[Image:Creatura_28.jpg|630px]]

==Tips and Suggestions for Setting up your PS3 Media Server==
*For faster connections it is better to use a wired connection.
*Avoid using long names for files. They might not be read on PS3
