Edited by Djinu, VisiHow, Eng
You're watching VisiHow. In this tutorial, we're going to show you how to disable ads within the Gmail app on the Nexus 6P.
Steps
1
Open the Gmail application
.
You'll notice that under "Promotions", you'll see ads that look like email messages. If you want to disable this, you have to disable the "Promotions" tab. This will also work so you don't see these particular ads that look like email messages on your desktop as well.
2
Tap on the three bars in the top-left corner of the screen
.
3
Then, scroll down until you reach "Settings"
.
4
5
Tap on the current email account
.
6
Tap on "Inbox categories"
.
7
Uncheck the "Promotions" category
.
All of the items that would normally have gone into "Promotions" will now go straightly to "Inbox".
8
Now, tap on the back arrow thrice
.
This will lead you back to you Gmail "Inbox".
9
Refresh the email inbox by pulling down the screen
.
Refreshing may take a little longer than normal as Gmail is going to combine all of your items from the "Promotions" tab into your primary mailbox.
10
11
There are just the "Primary" and "Social" tabs.
12
Tap on both the "Primary" and "Social" tabs
.
You no longer will see any advertising served at the top.
This has been a VisiHow tutorial on how to disable the "Promotions" tab and also disable advertisements on the Gmail application on the Nexus 6P. If you have any questions or comments, please leave them in the space below. Thank you for watching VisiHow!
