Steps

  1. 1
First of all, get the media that we want to pitch

  2. 2
Input it into Sony Vegas into the "Project Media" box, by dragging it down into our timeline
    .
We can go ahead and play through our audio file to make sure it plays correctly and we know what we're going to be working on.

  3. 3
After we've played through that and know what it sounds like we can begin to pitch it
    .
Now, there's two ways to do this. I'll go through both ways. First we can right click the audio clip. Then press "Properties."

Find "None" then change that to "Classic." It will come up with a few different boxes

We're going to be using "Pitch change." Find the box to the right of "Pitch change" and "Lock to stretch." It is highlighted in blue and defaulted at zero
    .
The higher the number the higher the pitch. If we put it at five (5) it's a higher pitch. But if we put it at negative five (-5) it will be a lower pitch.

If we set this to five (5) and click "OK," it would sound like a higher pitch

And if we want to change this to a lower pitch, we'll just right click the audio clip
    .
    Select "Properties."

  9. 9
Change "Pitch change" to negative five (-5)
    .
Click "OK." It would sound lower pitched, instead. It does sound a bit different in a lower pitch. Now we will show the other way to do this.

First, let's turn the other way off

    Right click, "Properties," click "OK."

Change "Pitch change" back to zero (0) and this will default it to sounding normal
    .

The other way to do this is to use the plus (+) and minus (-) signs on your computer
    .
The plus will go up by one and the minus will go down by one. If we were to click plus (+) and play this, it would sound slightly higher.

If we were to click plus, maybe three more times and play it, we'd have a higher pitch
    .

  14. 14
Now, if we click the minus one four times that will correct it back down to zero
    .
If we want a really, really low pitch voice, we can press minus maybe seven times. Play over that clip again.

We can also play around with this by adding multiple layers of the same audio clip
    .
Let's drag other tracks. The top one will be lower pitched. The middle one, let's make it higher pitched by pressing the plus (+) button about five times. And then keep the bottom one at normal. It will make a G major effect. So, we can play around with this and edit it to our liking.

Questions and Answers

Copyright YouTube how can I solve it?

Problem with copyright SME on YouTube. I have tried: Pitched change. I think it was caused by: The song track

You cannot use copyrighted audio for legal reasons. Using pitch change for that will only worsen the situation. Nevertheless, if you are sure that you did not use a copyrighted track, and it was your own track, then you need to contact YouTube directly at http://www.youtube.com/t/contact_us (use the "Help Center", the fax number, or the physical address) and submit a dispute.

You will need to prove that you are using your own track in that case by showing your copyright documents or by showing any other resources that prove your authorship.

Now, let us review the worst situation that can happen online. You may get an answer from YouTube or SME that the copyright claim for your own music has been rightfully reported from someone else. This happens when you release your music without copyrighting it, leave it online somewhere for free, and someone takes it wholly or most parts of it, including lyrics, from you and claims copyrights for that. In that case, unfortunately, you will need to find a good lawyer and enough proof to settle the dispute and get copyrights for yourself. Always register your works with http://www.copyright.gov/ to avoid such cases.

How do you properly speed up audio to 250%?

Hi, Feels this would be my first attempt in speeding up a song for filming so I can try the slow motion lip effect... As I read, the song would have to be speed up 250% I tried the Pitch change and Lock to stretch and punched in 2,5, but I feel like I'm doing something wrong. I have tried: Changing the lock to stretch value to 2.5
