== Steps ==
# To begin, you should open InDesign. You may be able to do that by clicking a desktop shortcut.  If InDesign is not on your desktop, click the Windows icon in the bottom-left corner of your screen. Clicking the Windows icon reveals a list of your recently used programs. You may find InDesign on the list. It has a pink-and-purple icon with the letters "ID". # Locate and click "Adobe InDesign CS6" to open the program. Once you have clicked the name of the program, it will begin to load. You will be taken to your workspace. A dialogue box will appear every time you open InDesign. You can use the dialogue box to open recent items or create new items. # The first points to consider when using InDesign are margins and bleeds. You should consider this from the beginning because it will affect your printed document. You don't want your logotype, image, or text to be cut when the document is printed.  For this reason, pay special attention to the "Margins" area at the bottom. For more information about this area, please view our other InDesign tutorials. When your document opens, you will see the area around the outline on the document.  This space is the margin; so, nothing should be created in this space. If you need to, you can change your margins as well. # The next thing to consider is the number of pages.  When you have a document in InDesign, it is likely that you are working with more than one page. For example, if you are creating a magazine, you may want a general layout that will go between all of the pages of your magazine. In this case, it is easier to create a master page that will apply the same layout to each of the following pages. To do this, click "Pages" on the right-hand side of your screen. # Another thing to consider in the right-hand side panel is "Links". You may not want to copy and paste between Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. With copy and paste, you may lose some of the quality of your images. You can see how many images you have in your document by clicking "Links".
