Convert M2TS from Sony Camcorder to HD MP4

Recently I went to my friend's birthday party and captured several video clips with my new-bought Sony HDR-CX520V. When I came home, it came across my mind that why not make a video and send her as a gift? But when I transferred them to my Windows 10 computer, I found that they couldn't be played on my computer. Why? How can I play and edit them on my Windows computer?

I don't have enough time, because it would be meaningless if I send to her tomorrow. So I searched on the internet and want to find a free tool. Luckily, I found this FVC Free M2TS Converter. And after testing, I'm sure it is really free. There are many M2TS converter, you know, on the website that claims to be free. But it requires money for advanced conversion like exporting to HD videos.

Much to my surprise, it did convert the M2TS files from my Sony camcorder, as shown on its webpage, to HD MP4. I also tried to convert to HD AVI, WebM, even TS file format, but they all succeeded every time I tried. Taking this opportunity, I will share my operation to convert videos captured from Sony HD camcorder to HD MP4 format.

== 1. Download Free M2TS Converter. ==

I searched FVC Free M2TS Converter on the internet, and went to its webpage. Then, I clicked the [http://www.free-videoconverter.net/download/free-m2ts-converter.exe Free Download] button, and it started downloading the .exe package immediately.

== 2. Install M2TS Converter software. ==

I clicked the .exe package and installed this M2TS converter on my laptop. Then it starts.

== 3. Import file from Sony camcorder. ==

I clicked Add File(s) button to load the M2TS file. To my surprise, I found it can merge videos. I have several video clips and want to combine them together, so I ticked Merge into one file option at the bottom.

== 4. Choose to output HD MP4 format. ==

At the bottom of the software, I clicked Output format to browse all available output formats. I want an HD MP4 file output, so I selected HD MPG-4 Video (*.mp4) from HD Video section.

== 5. Add a theme to M2TS file. ==

I clicked the Edit button on top of the video. These videos are captured at my friend's birthday party, so I selected a birthday theme. Then I taped Next and entered the time, title, author and provider. Before saving the changes, I also checked the modified video and it looks great.

== 6. Convert to HD MP4 file. ==

Now, it's time to convert. I clicked Convert button to start converting M2TS file to HD MP4. After a few seconds, the output folder window just shows up in my view. I viewed the HD MP4 file on my Windows 10 PC, and it was really satisfying.

This is all I have done to convert my Sony HDR-CX520V feed to HD MP4 video. I have to say FVC Free M2TS Converter is the best M2TS converter I have ever used. It even helped me finish the editing. So I sent the video to my friend the same night and she was so much moved. Though there is also some powerful editing software for M2TS files, such as Premier or Final Cut Pro, this is the easiest one.
