Edited by Lukward Thomason, Robert, Eng
Hi, welcome to VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to calibrate colors on Windows 7 computers.
Steps
1
To start, we will go to the Control Panel
.
To go there, we need to click on the 'Start Menu' button located at the lower-left corner of the screen.
2
Now, we will click on 'Control Panel'
.
3
Once the Control Panel window opens, we will need to click on 'Appearance and Personalization'
.
4
Once in that section, we need to click on 'Display'
.
5
Now on the left side of the screen, there is a list of sub-sections
.
We need to click on 'Calibrate Color'.
6
From this window, we need to click 'Next' two times
.
7
As we can see, the screen is showing us which is the best gamma for your picture
.
In the left picture, the gamma is too low, which means it is bad.
8
In the picture to the right, the gamma is too high
.
9
In the middle picture, the gamma is the best
.
In the next section, we're going to set the slider so that the gamma on your computer will be as good as you need it to be.
10
Click on 'Next' in the bottom-right corner
.
11
Use the slider on the left side to adjust the gamma
.
In this example, I am setting it to the best setting for my computer.
12
When you have the gamma set correctly, click next in the bottom-right corner two times
.
In the next section, we will need to set brightness and contrast adjustments. For this, we will need the buttons on our monitor.
13
Here, three pictures are showing
.
The middle picture shows the best brightness, which we will try to achieve. The background image is black, but we should be able to see the suit of the man clearly, but not too clearly.
14
Click on 'Next' in the bottom-right corner
.
15
Press the buttons on your monitor to the brightness according to the previous picture, and click 'Next' in the bottom-right corner
.
16
This will show us the contrast
.
In this case, we're setting the contrast so that the white shirt of this person is distinct from the white background, but not too distinct. Click on 'Next' in the bottom-right corner.
17
Press the buttons on your monitor to the contrast according to the picture and click 'Next' in the bottom right corner
.
18
Now we will set the color balance
.
For the colors to look best, you need to have gray colors. Click 'Next' in the bottom right corner.
19
Use the three on-screen sliders at the lower part of the screen to adjust the image color
.
Bear in mind that the image should be gray, for example, if I remove the red color it will change so that we have too much blue and too much green. If we remove green we will have too much blue, and if we remove all of them we will have gray. Adjust the colors so they are shown correctly. When we are finished, we should click on 'Next' in the bottom-right corner.
20
The calibration is now finished
.
Before we click finish we should note that 'Start ClearType Tuner' is now ticked, but at this moment we don't need it because we're calibrating colors. We can untick it and click 'Finish' in the bottom-right corner. The colors have now been calibrated.
