In this video, Illustrator and a document have been opened

A photograph is used, but you can use digital or even scanned drawings. Either way, try to use high-quality images.

Click the black arrow at the top-left side of your toolbar to select your object

The black arrow is "Selection Tool".

Click the object that you want to edit

A thin blue frame and corners will appear, which means your object is selected and ready for editing.

Click "Effect" at the top of the window

Within the "Photoshop Effects" section, move the cursor to "Pixelate"

A menu will appear where you can click the effect you prefer: "Color Halftone...", "Crystallize...", "Mezzotint...", and "Pointillize..." These are all Photoshop effects.

First, we click "Color Halftone"

A small dialogue box will appear. "Color Halftone" is useful for creating a dot pattern. Otherwise, it's used for creating images ready for screen printing.

You can click and drag the dialogue box to move it away from your canvas

You can change the details by simply typing within the "Channel" boxes

It is highly recommended to leave them as they are unless you are more advanced with Illustrator.

Next, click "Crystallize..." in "Pixelate" under "Effect"

The effect makes your image look as if it's made from crystal. A small dialogue box will appear.

You can zoom in and out of the preview by using the plus and minus in the corner
