Add Fade In and Fade Out for Sound in After Effects

You're watching VisiHow. In this video, we're going to demonstrate how to fade audio in and fade audio out using Adobe After Effects Creative Cloud 2015.
Steps
1
To begin, click an audio clip file and drag it from the project window
.

Drag the audio clip into the timeline area
.

In the timeline, click the audio file arrow to expand the menu
.

Click the "Waveform" settings arrow

Next, move the playhead to 0 seconds by clicking and dragging it to the beginning of the clip
.

Then, click the "Time-Vary stop watch" icon in the timeline area to add a key frame
.

For this tutorial, click and drag left the "Audio Levels" slider to -48 dB so that there is no audio at this point

Click the 2-second mark to set the playhead to this point
.

Click the "Add or remove keyframe at current time" diamond icon at the left side of the timeline area

This will add another key frame.

Then, adjust the "Audio Levels" slider to -15.00 dB in the same way

You will have a ramp up in the audio volume level.

Set the playhead to 6 seconds

Click the "Add or remove keyframe at current time" diamond icon at the left side of the timeline area

This will add another key frame.

Set the playhead to 8 seconds

Click the "Add or remove keyframe at current time" diamond icon at the left side of the timeline area

This will add another key frame.

Adjust the "Audio Levels" slider back down for the outro

Let's set it to -48.00 dB.

Set the playhead to 0 seconds

In order to listen to what the audio sounds like, press "Ctrl" + "." on the keyboard

This will preview the audio file.
