When I send a long message on my Galaxy S3, it automatically converts to MMS. How do I keep it as an SMS message?

SMS has a character limit of 160 characters/message. Unfortunately, there's no way to keep it as an SMS apart from lowering the number of characters in the message.

You can instead try installing a different messaging app, some of which have settings that will allow SMS messages of longer than 160 characters. Handcent is one such app.
