You're watching VisiHow. This tutorial will show you how to warp an object in Adobe Illustrator CS6 in Windows 7.
You should have Illustrator open and a document ready.
Let's create an object by clicking "Rectangle Tool".
Next, click "Selection Tool" in the upper-left corner of the vertical toolbar. It's on the left side of the screen. You can also use different selection tools if you are working with more complicated shapes.
Click the object. A thin blue frame and corners will appear, which means your object is now ready for editing.
Then, click "Effect" in the horizontal menu at the top of the screen.
In the menu, move the cursor to "Warp". There is a list of various options that will appear in the expanded menu.
Let's click "Bulge...". A dialogue box will appear.
You can click and drag the dialogue box away so that you can see your object.
Then, check the "Preview" box in the lower-left corner of the dialogue window.
Click the "Style" drop-down menu. "Style" is the first option in the dialogue window. You will see the same list of effects as in the previous expanded menu, in case you would like to make any changes.
You can click either a "Horizontal" or "Vertical" effect. Make your selection by clicking the radio button next to the effect you prefer.
You can alter the "Bend" value of the warp by clicking and dragging the scroller to the left or right. You can also click anywhere along the line or type a percentage into the text box on the right side.
Next, you can change the "Distortion" values. In this section, you can change the "Horizontal" and "Vertical" distortion in the same way: by clicking and dragging the scrollers, clicking on the lines, or typing percentages into the text boxes. The "Warp" effect is an easy way to manipulate an object if you want to create something that looks professional.
When you have finished making your changes, click "OK" to apply them to your object.
