Use webcal url to add a calendar to google calendar

Edited by Charmed, Lynn, Eng, andboc and 17 others

Public calendars can now be subscribed to and are very handy. This wiki includes examples of two different hockey league schedules, and it shows the process of subscribing to both calendars in order to create one combined calendar.

Requirements

Before you start you will need to get the webcal URL for the calendar you wish to subscribe to. This is provided by the website or service providing the calendar. In this case, the two URLs were accessed from the hockey website:

webcal://suncountypanthers.com/webcal.ashx?IDs=1030 webcal://windsoraaazone.net/webcal.ashx?IDs=1022

The above are not URLs you can go to, but URLs that get copied to your calendar.

Tips

  • Google only updates its calendars once a day. Other calendar systems like the iPhone's calendar app import the calendar frequently throughout the day, so changes appear approximately every 10 minutes or so.

Questions and Answers

Is there a calendar that just lists the date?

I don't want the standard calendar look - I only want to list the date that has an entry [i.e.; in a line item form] - such as: 01/14/14 - Louisville Festival - 6 pm.

I don't think it's possible to create the kind of calendar you're looking for. Maybe it's something only available on desktops. The settings are simple, but this format is apparently not popular. However, if you are saying it would be good for a Google Calendar, then it might happen, but only for computers that are using some Google Calendar API.

How to import a calendar using URL?

I was given a link to a calendar. Link begins with webcals:// Google returns an error message that the URL is not valid. It should be valid. Can you help?

Seems like you are pasting the URL into the search on your browser. The idea is to paste it into Google Calendars. Please scroll up and read the instructions.

Actually I was looking for this, but the other way around?

What's a webcal URL vs feed URL?

1. I don't know which to add to my Google calendar. It says that neither is in iCal format but they seem to work. 2. If I change something on the original site, will it update my Google calendar in the same way?

Transfer contents of Mymemorizer to Google?

Mymemorizer is web-based calendar but it only functions on a PC. I wish to transfer the events on mymemorizer to my Google calendar so I can access these events away from home. I wish to transfer the whole calendar as there are too many events logged to enter individually. The URL for mymemorizer is http://mymemorizer.com/. This does not appear to aim directly at my individual my memorizer calendar, and I presume a cookie or similar in my PC then further points to his. How do I get the specific URL for my individual mymemorizer calendar? I have tried: Nothing

Adding events in a public iCal feed URL to an existing calendar?

My wife and I have a shared Google calendar for our kid's activities. I want to add some events from my daughter's soccer team iCal feed URL to this existing "Kids" calendar. I see how to add a whole new calendar iCal feed URL to my Google account, but I really want to add these URL events to the calendar we both use now. I read through this page, and everyone seems to be wanting and adding a whole new calendar. I also see you can export from an existing calendar I have to a CSV file, but I don't see a solution to add an iCal URL or events from that URL to an existing shared calendar. I have tried: Searching on the internet for a solution and reading through this page for solutions. I want to add events from a URL to an existing calendar. I think it was caused by: Not a problem yet, just looking for a solution. How to add a URL calendar feed to an existing shared calendar

I believe each of you has to add the URL calendar feed subscription to your individual devices. I know I have to add any subscribed calendar URL to my phone, my computer, my wife's blackberry, and to her iPad.

Subscribe to web calendar on Android?

Was successful subscribing to a calendar on Google Calendar on the desktop, yet can't see the same calendar on the Android device. Any guidance? I have tried: Sync. I think it was caused by: Just don't know where to look to be able to do this.

Because it is a subscribed calendar, you have to add the URL to each individual device. The only way you could view it on your Android without adding the URL to your Android calendar separately, is if you login and view your Google calendar in the web browser. Anyone please step in and correct me if I am wrong.

I can't get my teaching schedule to re-synchronize with my Google calendar. Any ideas how to "force refresh" or if there is a special trick to resubscribe to a calendar?

I had added my teaching schedule to my Google calendar by adding the URL as described in this article. After my schedule changed and I couldn't get the events to refresh, I tried unsubscribing and resubscribing, and now I don't see any events. I don't get an error message, so Google seems to think it's done fine, but none of my events have been imported. Any ideas on How can I get re-subscribed to my updated schedule? This article does not address this particular problem. I have tried: Provided in the Question Details. I've unsubscribed and resubscribed multiple times. I think it was caused by: Possibly unsubscribing and resubscribing? Or at one point when I manually deleted certain events after they started showing up in double?

Thanks, but the consensuses to the Google webcal update issue appears to be a waiting game?

The only additional thing you might want to add into some of the answers (I'm not a member), is some have noted that old calendar info is still not refreshing, and the suggestion to resolve that is by adding '&no Cache' at the end of the URL. Another note.... since adding the URL calendar, a 'Refresh' option appears under the More pull-down menu. But alas, it does not force a refresh of any 'Other' calendars. Intentionally left blank intentionally left blank intentionally left blank intentionally left blank. I have tried: Intentionally left blank intentionally left blank intentionally left blank intentionally left blank.

Having an issue with Google not creating a calendar with a URL from a Mac email account?

When I create a new calendar using this particular URL, it only syncs old data. Do you have any recommendations?... Thank you! Not covered in the article - but hope you can assist! I have tried: Deleting and trying again multiple times. Adding "?nocache" to the end of the URL, which worked, but now there is nothing showing. I think it was caused by: I have no idea. none at all, this is strange that you have to type so much in here in order to proceed.

Adding external ics feed to my work Google calendar?

Hi,. I have a Google calendar at one of my workplaces. My colleagues can access that calendar to see where I am, book meetings, etc. . . I have a second workplace where we use Outlook. I have published my Outlook calendar (but without details - i.e. just showing 'busy' for appointments) and added the ics link to my Google calendar. So when I look at Google cal, I can see my work cal, plus the added other-work cal.. . But, my colleagues can still only see my original work cal. How can I import other-work cal into work-cal, so that my colleagues can see when I'm bsy at my other work and don't try and set a meeting? . I hope that's clear - life is complicated! It's not covered in the article or the FAQs. It's about combining teh 2 calendars so they can be seen by a third party / colleague. I have tried: As explained above, I have added teh 2nd calendar to Google cal, but it's seperate from my normal cal. I think it was caused by: I don't know how to do this - I think I've explained the question
