- 3There is an option to take a photo every half a second, every 1 second, 2 seconds, 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 30 seconds or 60 seconds. The reason we use time-lapse is for taking long exposure photos, such as capturing sunsets or starts, and also to create time-lapse videos where a lot of individual photos are combined to create movement and record action. Your choice of setting will depend on how long you want your final video to be and how long you want to take photos for. If you want to make a video that's about 1 minute long and you want to shoot for one hour, if the standard playback rate is 30 frames per second, which means 30 photos for every second, you would need about 900-1000 photos to make a 1 minute video. Now we have different options for the speed of taking photos.
