Hello, and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to use the square framing grid when using the Lumia Camera application on a Microsoft Lumia 535.
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on the right-hand side of the phone.
Once the phone is activated, you'll see the lock screen. Swipe the lock screen up to enter the home screen.
Find and press the Lumia Camera tile to open the application. It is a purple tile with a picture of a white camera on it. If it has not been pinned to the home screen, swipe the screen to the left and locate it in the Apps menu.
Press the ellipses icon located at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen to enter the menu. In the example, the icon is white, as is the background, making it difficult to see. There are three white dots in a row.
Press "settings" at the bottom of the menu.
Press the box under "Framing grids", and press "square" located at the bottom.
Press the white arrow icon at the bottom-left of the phone to return to the camera.
There are lines creating a square on the screen. The reason to use this type of framing grid is to capture the center of an area or the most important part of an area. We don't want the most important parts to be too high up or too low down. This is a good framing tool for a portrait, for example.
In the example, the image of a fish swimming sideways is in the center of the framing grid. The fish should not be too high up or too low down, as it cuts out of the framing grid. This helps to frame the point of interest. In this case, the fish is the point of interest and the framing grid helps to capture it in a centralized way.
In the example, the fish is flipped upside-down. The framing grid can help centralize it and give the shot some balance.
The school of fish in the example is captured in the middle of the framing grid, giving it a nice balance. It will capture the main point of interest and help the image achieve equilibrium.
Take a photo by pressing the white camera icon inside of the circle located at the middle-bottom of the screen.
The framing grid will help create a nice picture and frame it in a very nice way. This is something that is good to experiment with and see what happens. This can help improve your photographic techniques. It can help improve your style and understanding. Try it with portraits or other elements where the point of interest should be centralized.
