You're watching VisiHow. In this tutorial, we're going to show you how you can facet an image in Photoshop CS6 in Windows 7.

To begin, we should have Photoshop open, and either create a new document or open an existing document

This works best if we're using a photo because it gives the illusion that the photo is an abstract painting. We've already got a document open, and on the right-hand side there is only one layer. If we have more than one, we should make sure that we've selected the layer we want to be working with, and not a random background layer.

Then, click on "Filter" at the top

Hover over "Pixelate"

Click "Facet"

It will add a very slight filter over the top of the photo.

We can see a subtle texture here, which almost looks like it's been done with a paintbrush

If we select the "Facet" again, it will add a more intense effect

We can see the effect if we zoom in

To go backwards, we can undo it. Otherwise, that's how we facet an image.
