Use the Chroma Keyer in Sony Vegas Pro
Edited by Feels, Melissa Rae, Eng
Hello, and welcome to VisiHow.com. This is going to be a tutorial on how to use the Chroma Keyer, also known as the green screen effect in Sony Vegas Pro. We'll be using version 10.0 for this example, but it doesn't matter which version you're using, as it works in every version of Sony Vegas.
Steps
1
Now, here we have a clip of an explosion with a green screen behind it
.
Let's play through it and see what it looks like. It's just a quick video of an explosion. It's a stock video that we found on YouTube.
2
We can add something behind it, under that video layer
.
Let's take this random photo and drag it underneath the video in the video tab. We can't see it because the green screen is in front of it.
3
To get rid of the green screen, click on "Video Effects"
.
4
Select "Chroma Keyer" from the menu
.
5
Click the "Green Screen" preset, or any other preset, and drag it down into the video tab
.
We can use colors other than green, such as blue, red or any other color.
6
It already gives a green screen-type look, but it's not perfect
.
7
We can go to the thresholds and just play around with these settings until we find what looks best
.
We can also up the blur just slightly.
8
If we play through that, it will look a lot better that if we had it on the default presets
.
9
We can bring back the default settings, and we can see that it darkens the photo and it just doesn't look good at all
.
If we raise the lower thresholds, lower the higher thresholds and add some blur, it will look a lot better.
10
Once we have done this, we can do anything we want with the video
.
We can add a small explosion in the background. We can do anything with a video that has a green screen behind it.
