    You should have GIMP open and an image ready to use

    First, click "Filters"

    Then, move the cursor to "Noise"

    Click "Spread..." in the menu that appears

    A dialogue box will appear with a preview of your image.

    If you cannot see the preview image, ensure that the "Preview" box inside the dialogue window is checked

    You can click and drag the preview or click the scrollbars and arrows to navigate the preview

    "Spread" takes key pixels and exchanges the color with the color of the surrounding pixels. That adds noise to the image.

    You can adjust the "Spread Amount" settings

    Change "Horizontal" and "Vertical" values by typing the number in the boxes or by using the arrows next to them.

    To change your "Horizontal" and "Vertical" spread amounts separately, you need to unlink them by clicking the chain icon

    If you want, you can also change the measurement units

    You can do that by clicking the drop-down menu with unites on the right.

    If you are happy with your settings, then click "OK"

    This will apply them to your image. A green bar will appear at the bottom to show that the changes are being applied.
