Use Your Computer as a Handsfree Device for Your Smartphone

Hi, welcome to VisiHow. In this video, I'm going to show you how to use your computer as a hands-free device for your smartphone. We are going to be doing this by using Bluetooth technology, and in this example we're using a Windows 8.1 computer.

    First, click on "Settings"

    Click on "Control Panel"

    Now click on "View devices and printers" which is located underneath "Hardware and Sound"

    Double click on the phone in the "Devices" section
    .
    In this example we're using an iPhone, but it doesn't have to be an iPhone and it can be any smartphone that has Bluetooth technology. We're going to make sure that our computer has Bluetooth available and that it is enabled.

    Click on "Connect" which is to the right of "To use this PC as a handsfree device"

    When it is connected, a confirmation will show up in the bottom-right corner. Here we can see the iPhone and the access the computer has to the iPhone, but it will be displaying whatever phone we have connected. We can also access our computers stereo/audio if we have a playlist or anything on our phone we'd like to play through our computer, especially if we have a good audio system plugged into our computer.

    Click on "Open" located next to "Open advanced phone operation window"

    In this example, we're using a PC headset. We can also do this through our computers built in microphone.

    Click on "Contacts"
    .
    In the top-left, we can see the phones signal status, and in the top-right we can see the battery status.

    Click on "Sync" to sync our contacts from the phone to our PC

    Click on "History" to view phone call history

    We can either click on the numbers that we're wanting to dial or use the keypad on the keyboard.
