Use Smart Scroll on Samsung Galaxy S4

If you are one of the people who are fond of reading and browsing using your mobile phone, you may find it comfortable to use the scrolling gesture (tap and drag) of Samsung Galaxy S4. However, there is a better feature for you. This will enable you to scroll from your current page view to a lower or upper view. This is made possible by Samsung's Smart Scroll feature.

Samsung Smart Scroll allows you to view webpages, emails, and other reading materials on your phone by tilting your head downward if you want to view the lower part of the page. Tilting your head upward will allow you to scroll to the upper part of the page.

You must have come across these features in your device and maybe you are wondering what they are meant for. They are very useful and it is important to look at each of them. These two features of Samsung Galaxy S4 as mentioned earlier make use of human face recognition that enables the device to realize when you are looking at the screen up, down or on the sides.

   Smart scroll - This is a unique feature of Samsung Galaxy S4 device that allows the user to view any reading material, web pages and emails by just tilting the head up and down to scroll up and down through the pages

   You don't have to touch the display physically to scroll through the page since the front facing camera of the device will detect your face upon activation and it will enable the page to scroll up and down as you tilt your face.

   Smart pause - This is the technique of the device which pauses the scrolling when you are not looking directly at the screen of the device

   For instance when you now turn your attention to watch a program in a television, the film will pause and it will continue to scroll back again when you get your attention back to the device so you will not miss anything. It resumes to start scrolling again when you start looking at the display. The film will definitely stop after you have looked away for almost one second. This is an indication that the feature is very effective even though it is not fast enough to respond quickly within less than a second.

The Smart Scroll feature of the Samsung Galaxy S4 that has been explained above has what is called Smart Parts. So what are these Smart Scroll Smart Parts? • You may enable or disable the signal icon on the screen.
• The icon turns green when it recognizes the movements of your head or the device.
• You are using the sensor of your phone and this can consume more power. You should make sure that this feature is turned off when you are not using it.
• Not all applications may be supported by this feature, if this does not work on an application where it is expected to work, please notify the application developer about it.

Smart scroll is not an option in my settings?

I have gone to my settings and on to 'my device'. I then clicked on smart screen and Smart scroll was not an option, how do I get it?

Some carriers distribute their phones with various features disabled. For example, Verizon opted out of using Smart scroll on their Samsung phones.

To try to enable it, follow the steps below.
