I am not able to use S Beam to transfer files

You need to turn on your S Beam. Follow the procedures above for turning on S Beam to check and see if the switch is still ON.

I am very sure that I already turned ON the S Beam. Why did it turn off by itself?

As a security feature, S Beam and NFC communication are automatically turned off every time the screen is locked or set to screen off mode. This is to prevent accidental sharing of files through the feature.

I cannot switch my phone's S Beam feature to ON

Some users are reporting this issue. A simple reboot on your phone will most likely solve it. To reboot, press and hold the Power button until it turns off. Turn it on again by pressing and holding the Power button again.

The S Beam on my phone is turned ON, but I still cannot share files using it

For the file transfer to be successful, the receiving device should also have its NFC feature enabled. Make sure that NFC is enabled on the receiving device too.

I cannot transfer music files, but videos and pictures can be sent

This is a known limitation set by Samsung on the device. Make sure to update your device whenever there is a new update available, as this issue may be fixed in future updates.

I cannot open a file sent through S Beam

It may be caused by an unfinished transfer or a glitch. The file may also have become corrupted during the transfer. Delete the corrupt file and perform the transfer again.

I followed every suggestion, but still S Beam won't work for me

If all possible fixes have been tried, yet S Beam remains unresponsive, perform a Hard Reset on your device. Take note that Hard Reset will restore your phone to its original settings and will delete all the data on it, so make sure that a backup has been performed before resetting.

Hard reset has been done, but S Beam continues not to respond

If S Beam continues to be unresponsive even after a reset, there may be a problem with your device's NFC chip. Take your S4 to a service center and have it checked.

Missing S Beam button in S4

If you are missing the S Beam on your Samsung Galaxy S4, seriously check to ensure that it is an S4. Any Samsung Galaxy S mobile device before the S3 will not have the S Beam function, so it will not have the S Beam button. However, if you discover that you have an S1 or S2, you can still perform the functions of the S Beam in transferring photos and files over Bluetooth. If either of these older Galaxy S versions has the Jellybean 4.12 Android operating system, you have the capability. It is a simple one-click procedure, but slower than the speedy file transfers of the S Beam.

If you definitely have an S4, there are periodic updates for the Galaxy that may include one for the S Beam. So, check online for any updated version of the S Beam to download and install on your S4.

Note that the receiving mobile device for all content, including music, must also be a Galaxy S3, S4, Note2, or Note3. Follow the tutorial below to find the S Beam button, and then you can swiftly use your S Beam to transfer files to another Galaxy mobile device wirelessly.

How to find your missing S Beam button on your S4

   First, if you are new to the S4, unless you have set your Galaxy S4 to have no lock screen, you must simply unlock your screen using the pattern unlock method, or by sliding your finger across the screen

• Find your "Menu" button in the middle of your Galaxy, and just left of the "Home" button. Tap "Menu".
• Tap "Settings" at the bottom of the screen.
• Once you are in "Settings", tap "Connections" in the upper left corner of your screen.
• At the bottom of the screen now is "Connect and share". Tap this option.
• The "S Beam" button will now appear. It will have a soft toggle "Off-On" switch to its right. It is in the "Off" position by default.
  
• Tap the "S Beam" switch to "On". This will automatically turn on the Near Field Connection (NFC) and WiFi. This will enable sharing of content from your S4 with another Galaxy S4, S3, Note2, or Note3.
• An instructions page will appear on your screen. It will direct you to placing your S4 back-to-back with one of the aforementioned mobile devices. A message should appear at the bottom of your screen saying that the NFC and WiFi are "On".
• You should now be able to enjoy quick and easy contents sharing between your Samsung Galaxy S4 and another Galaxy mobile device.

• If you are still unable to find the S Beam button, and enable transferring of files, music and photos, take your Galaxy S4, along with receipt, to any authorized Samsung Service Center. If you are the original owner, it should be under warranty for servicing or replacement.

Got a message saying "Android beam not available. NFC turned off." Phone works OK otherwise. What should I do?

Once you have turned on your S Beam, your device will automatically enable the NFC device and the Android Beam feature on your Galaxy S4, as illustrated in the picture below. You need to make sure that you have turned on your S Beam feature by going to Home > Menu > Settings > Connections > S Beam, and then tap on the switch button to turn it ON (green).

• If your device indicates otherwise, then you can manually turn on your NFC by going to Home > Menu > Settings > Connections > NFC, and then tap on the Switch button to turn it ON (green).

• Your device's Android Beam should be automatically turned on when you enable S Beam or NFC. If your Android Beam is still switched off, you can turn it on by going to Home > Menu > Settings > Connections > NFC, and then tap on the Switch button on Android Beam to turn it ON (green).

Can you get songs from other devices like an iPod or an iPad?

Unfortunately, You can't do this on iPad/iPod/iPhone. This feature requires NFC technology. Apple devices don't have this yet. If you want to get songs from your iOS device, please use CopyTrans Manager. I am trying to transfer all of the above from one Samsung Galaxy 4 to another SG4. One is a replacement phone and has just been activated.

If you are sure your device's battery is not damaged, then you can try the Hard Reset option to attempt to resolve the software issue you are having on your device. You can use another battery to check to see if yours is the problem, or you can go to a service center for assistance.

To do a Hard Reset:

• Power off your device

• Hold the Volume up button + menu button +power

• On the boot menu use the volume keys to highlight the factory data reset option

• Press the power button to make the selection

• After you confirm the reset option use the volume keys to highlight reboot device

• Press the power button to reboot the device
