Hello, and thank you for watching VisiHow. In today's tutorial, we will discuss in the English language, how to use question words.
Steps
1
There are a few different ways in English to ask questions
.
One of those ways is by beginning the question with a question word. We will provide examples of seven different question words. These are almost all of them. We may include a couple others, which we will mention, but will not go over.
2
Our question words include, "who", "what", "which", "when", "where", "why" and "how"
.
We may also include, "how often" or "how much", but we won't discuss them here. We will only discuss the basic question words.
3
We can begin a question with "who" when we are asking about people
.
4
"What" and "which" are for when we are asking about things
.
5
"When" is used when we are asking about time
.
6
"Where" is used when we are asking about places
.
7
"Why" is for when we are asking for a reason
.
8
"How" is for when we are asking for more information
.
9
The following sentences we will give are examples of questions that begin with each question word
.
Using "who", we can ask, "Who did you go with?"
10
Using "what", we can ask, "What time did you leave?"
11
Using "which", we can ask, "Which apple should I buy?"
12
Using "when", we can ask, "When will you arrive?"
13
Using "where", we can ask, "Where are you going?"
14
Using "why", we can ask, "Why did you leave?"
15
Using "how", we can ask, "How did you do that?"
16
In each of these sentences, we can see that our question words begin the sentence - "who", "what", "which", "when", "where", "why" and "how"
.
