I have an LG6 phone. How do I use the Emojis my status?
The Emoji's will come up in chat messenger, but not for my status.
There are a couple ways you can add Emoji to your Facebook status from your LG6 phone. You can use the Feelings part of a Facebook status to add a single Emoji based on what you're currently doing, but if you want to add more Emoji to your status, do this:
- Go to Google Play and download the Google Keyboard.
- Once it's downloaded, go to your Settings app, find the Language and Input panel, and make sure that Google Keyboard is checked as your default keyboard.
- Go to Facebook and begin adding a new status.
- Hold down the enter key on your new keyboard. You will see a smiley face appear. Tap it.
- You can now add Emoji to your new Facebook status.
If I post a status from my phone with an Emoji it does not show up. Why?
I don't know why sometimes they show up on other people's statuses, but not mine. Is it because I have an iPhone, or do I have to have Facebook mobile? Right now I just use the Facebook app on my phone.
You can use the Facebook app from your Apple iPhone to post Emoji in your statuses. If your iPhone can see the Emoji, but your Windows computer or Android Tablet cannot, it's because Apple uses custom Emoji that may not show up on other companies' products. However, if your iPhone can't see the Emoji you post on your status, you may be using a third-party keyboard. Try the following steps to use Apple's built-in Emoji.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap the General panel.
- Scroll down until you find Keyboard. Tap it.
- Tap Keyboards.
- Tap Add New Keyboard.
- Scroll down to the E section and tap Emoji.
- When you want to insert an Emoji, tap the little World icon in the lower-left corner of the keyboard.
How to copy white heart in a pink square from one Facebook comment to another?
I saw this in a comment, and want to copy and paste it to mine. Not sure if the person who posted it used an iPhone, Tablet or Laptop to insert that particular Emoji, or whatever the symbol is called. In the past, I could copy and paste. Now it isn't working. I can't get a copy on the menu when I right click.
Unfortunately, you cannot copy and paste Emoji directly from Facebook anymore. However, you can find Emoji that are usable on Facebook by visiting this website and copying and pasting the Emoji you want from there. To copy and paste the Emoji, copy the little box under the symbol you want, and paste it into your Facebook status. They will show up as boxes until you post the status; after you post it, they will turn into the Emoji you selected.

I'm trying to get Emoji on my Linux Laptop
My daughter downloaded the Emoji for me on my iPad. Now I'm trying to get them onto my Linux-based Laptop.
This is possible if you use the Linux operating system. You can install an input method which will allow you to type Emoji by their description, as discussed in this website (in Italian).
These steps require a Linux system that uses ibus (most of them do: Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenSuSE). First, you need to download an ibus plugin. The following directions are for Ubuntu or other Debian-based distributions because they use the apt
command.
cd /tmp
wget https://github.com/lalomartins/ibus-uniemoji/archive/master.zip
unzip master.zip
cd ibus-uniemoji-master
Then you have to run a tool called checkinstall. It will build a package for uniemoji and install it:
sudo apt-get install checkinstall
sudo checkinstall
Press Enter for the first two questions. Press 3, then Enter, then 1, then Enter again, to fix the version number. Press Enter for the last time and the package will be installed.
Now you can log out and then log back in and go to your keyboard settings. You will see a list of installed keyboard layouts, and you can now activate UniEmoji.
When you select UniEmoji as your active keyboard layout, you can write a description like "sunglasses" to see matching Emoji.
Keep in mind that you need a good font for displaying Emoji. You can use the Symbola font, on Ubuntu and Debian-based systems you can get it by installing the ttf-ancient-fonts
package.
