Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to upload a photo from a Microsoft Lumia 535 to the Instagram application.
Steps
1
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on the right-hand side of the phone
.
2
Once the phone is activated, swipe the lock screen up to get to the home screen
.
3
On the home screen, find the Instagram tile
.
It has a navy blue background with the Instagram logo, which is the white outline of a camera. If Instagram has not been pinned to the home screen, swipe left to find it in the Apps menu.
4
Once Instagram has been located, press it to enter the application
.
5
On the Instagram home screen, press the icon in the middle at the bottom of the screen
.
It is a blue circle, and in the middle there is the white outline of a camera. Pressing on this will allow a photo to be uploaded.
6
The next screen shows photos from the phone's "Camera Roll."
7
Press down on the text box where it says "Camera Roll."
8
This will bring up a list of different albums from which a photo can be chosen
.
Select an album by pressing on it, and then choose a photo from that album.
9
Choose a photo by tapping on the thumbnail
.
10
This will add a white border to the photo to show that it has been selected
.
11
Now, press the checkmark at the bottom of the screen to confirm the photo choice and move on to the next stage of the process
.
12
The photo will now appear on the screen within a grid
.
13
Press down and drag along the screen to move the image around
.
This will allow the image to be edited and cropped.
14
When satisfied with the image, tap the checkmark at the bottom of the screen
.
This will take us to the Edit stage.
15
Various filters are featured at the bottom of the screen
.
16
Press down on a filter name to see the image with that filter
.
Each one has a unique look and style.
17
Swipe left or right over the filter images to scroll through and view all of them
.
18
Choose "Normal" to use the photo as it is without any filters
.
19
Pressing the spot icon with a curved arrow around it, located at the top left corner of the screen just above the image, will rotate the image
.
20
There is also a teardrop icon located above the image at the top of the screen, but a bit further over from the rotate icon
.
Pressing on this will add some color and clarity to the image. It adds more color vibrancy to the original image. If the icon is white, this means it is not activated, and if it is blue, this means it is activated.
21
The far right icon above the photo is the brightness indicator
.
It is an image of a sun. Press that to make the image brighter. Again, white means the option is not activated, while blue indicates it is activated.
22
To accept the image, press the white checkmark at the bottom of the screen
.
23
Tap on the gray text box with the word "Caption" at the top of the screen next to the photo thumbnail
.
Add some words to describe the image. A hashtag can also be added, which will allow the application to group this image with other images related to that hashtag.
24
Press the virtual keyboard key located at the bottom left corner to change to numbers
.
25
Now, press the hashtag symbol
.
26
Then press the "abcd" key to change back to the alphabet keyboard
.
27
Write a word that applies to the image
.
28
Press anywhere on the screen away from the text box, and the keyboard will disappear
.
29
Press "Tag People" to tag individuals in the photo if desired
.
30
To tag a person, press on the image
.
31
"Who's This?" will appear as a pop-up message
.
Then type the name of the person, and press the arrow at the bottom right corner of the keyboard to accept.
32
Go back without adding any tags by pressing the left arrow at the bottom left of the screen
.
33
Swipe across the switch on the right side of the screen to "Add to Photo Map."
34
This will bring up an information screen about "Your Photo Map." It is "A Fun New Way Of Browsing Photos on A Map." It also suggests, "Be mindful of which photos you add to your map
.
Their location will be visible to everyone who visits your map. You can remove photos from your map at any time."
35
To select this option, press "OK," or press "cancel" to go back
.
36
Share the image if desired using one of the social media platforms on the screen
.
37
Tap a checkbox next to a social media name, a message will pop up, prompting you to sign in to share the image
.
38
When satisfied with the options, press the checkmark at the bottom of the screen
.
39
Photo upload status will appear at the top of the screen
.
"Finishing up" indicates the process is almost done.
