A Device Driver is a piece software that enables hardware to function correctly with an Operating System and the application it uses. Without drivers, devices connected to a computer wouldn't know how to communicate with their intended programs or applications. Hardware manufacturers are always updating the drivers that pair with their devices to ensure continual functionality and improvements. An out-of-date driver can cause a program to work poorly, or, in some instances, not work at all.

Windows 10 offers users a few ways to update drivers; Windows Update, via the device manager, and manually with the manufactures support downloads. Letting Windows update take care of your driver upgrades is probably the easiest and most secure method. However, there are instances when a manufacturer may not publish their driver updates with the Window Update service quick enough. When this happens, you can visit the manufactures support pages and download the most recent driver.
