    Questions and Answers

Power button will not work. Even putting the battery in, the phone won't come on. I've got it hooked up to the computer. Is there any way to turn it on from the computer?

Samsung S5 won't turn on, because the power button won't work.

If your phone will not come on due to an issue with the power button, then it needs to be taken to a shop for repairs. However, based on the description you've provided, it seems more likely that your USB cable / charger cable or battery may not be functioning properly. A quick and simple test is to try a different USB cable. If that does not work, then have a friend with an S5 come over with his charger.

Was this helpful? Yes | No| I need help

First, test his charger on your phone. If it works, then you have an issue with your USB cable or your charger. If it does not work, then do a quick battery swap to test his battery in your phone. If your phone comes on, then it's a battery problem you have, and a new battery will fix it. However, if your phone still does not come on, you have a more serious problem, and will need repairs.

I just updated my Galaxy S5 and it got stuck half way in between the lock screen and home screen. I can't power it down and I don't know what to do now. Its just froze. What do I do?

When you are on the home screen and you can drag down the update/notifications screen from the home screen, my phone is stuck with that drag down on but the background is black. I press the lock button on the side and my phone sleeps, I press it again to wake it up and it goes back to that half black screen. I can't power down my phone, I've tried but the screen is frozen so I can't press any buttons. What do I do?

I just got my S5 yesterday and overnight it randomly shuts off. It also did this once yesterday....Any suggestions?

How to make phone stop randomly shutting off

Perform a factory reset by reading this article.

If it still restarts, then there is a possibility that the power button (or any other hardware component, actually) of the phone is faulty. Bring your phone to a service center to have it checked.

There's also a possibility that your phone software has become corrupt. You should consider flashing your phone software.
