Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video we are going to show you how to turn on the Lock screen but not the Security screen on an HTC One M8.

What we can currently see before us is the actual Home screen of the HTC One M8
.
That is because we have deactivated the Lock screen. Normally when we turn the phone on it takes us to the lock screen, giving us a very short time to unlock the phone before it actually falls asleep again. Now we can see that the phone is not falling asleep because the lock screen has been deactivated.

What we are going to do is turn the phone off by pressing the Power button located right on top of the phone

That's going to make it sleep.

Now we are going to turn it back on again
.
Follow this and do the same. Turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on top of the phone. If we need to, swipe the lock screen up to take us to the Home screen.

Now we can see that the Home screen is here and we can see these icons at the bottom of the screen

What we now need to do is find the Settings menu. To do that we need to swipe the Notification panel down.

To do that, start at the top of the screen and swipe down

Now we can see that the Notification panel has appeared and we are looking for this icon here. In the top right-hand corner of the screen, we can see that there is a white cog icon. This is our Settings icon.

Press down on it and it will open up our "Settings" menu

We can see it says the word "Settings" in the top left-hand corner of the screen.

Now let's scroll down until we get to the "PERSONAL" section

We can see it says the word "PERSONAL" in this grey bar.

We are looking for this option here, it says the word "Security." Next to the word "Security" there is an icon of a padlock

Press down on that section.

We want this first option, it says "Screen lock." Currently underneath it says "No lock screen."As we have seen when we turn the phone on there was no lock screen
.
That means obviously, that we have very little protection and that anybody can access this phone. What we want to do is turn on the Lock screen, but not the security screen.

To do that press down on this section where it says "Screen Lock."

Now we are looking for this first option
.
It says "Lock screen," "Show lock screen but not security screen." Press down on this option.

We can see it's been selected because underneath "Screen lock" it says "Lock screen." Now, what we are going to do is turn the phone off and turn it back on again to show that the Lock screen has been activated

Press down on top of the phone, the Power button

This will make the phone sleep.

Now press the button again to turn it on and we can see now, it has taken us to the Lock screen, meaning we have some protection

Swipe the lock screen upwards and that will take us back into the phone
