Hello, and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to turn on and off the "Protected content" setting in Google Chrome on an HTC One M8.
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the Power button, located on top of the phone. Once the phone has been activated, we'll see the lock screen.
To unlock the phone, press down on the screen and swipe up. Once the phone has been unlocked, we'll see the home screen. At the bottom, there will be icons.
It is one of these icons that we now need, to open up the Applications folder. To do that, we need this icon at the bottom of the home screen, in the middle. It looks like a grid, made up of white dots. Press down on this icon to open up our Apps folder.
In this folder, we need to find the Google Chrome application. Mine is located here. We can see the Google Chrome icon, which is a circle made up of different colors. Underneath, it says the word "Chrome". Our Google Chrome application may be in different positions in this folder. Therefore, we will need to find it. Once we've done that, press down on it, to enter the application.
Once the application has opened, we need this icon, in the top right-hand corner of the screen. It looks like three small black dots in a vertical line. Press down on this icon, and it will open up a menu.
We need to scroll down until we see the word "Settings". It will open our "Settings" menu.
Here, we need to scroll down again until we see the option called "Site settings". Press down on this option.
Now we need to scroll down again until we see the option labelled, "Protected content". Underneath, it says, "Ask first". That means that this is the option that's currently selected. Press down on this option to bring up some information.
Here, we can turn this option on or off. Currently, the icon at the top is blue, indicating that the option is turned on. Here, it says, "When protected content is ON, websites will be able to authenticate your device to ensure that it is authorized to play premium or protected videos. If it is OFF, you many not be able to play premium videos on this device."
If we want to turn this option off, even though it isn't advised, just press down on the icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen. That will turn this option off. The icon will turn gray, and the word "Off" will appear. This option is now deactivated.
If we want to activate it again, then just press down on the icon again. The icon will turn blue, and it will say the word "On", indicating that this option is now activated.
This then, concludes our tutorial on how to turn on and off the "Protected content" setting in Google Chrome on the HTC One M8.
