Edited by Thor, Ash0hley, Eng
Hello, and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to turn on or off the option to allow the TalkBack feature to speak when the HTC One M8 is sleeping.
Steps
1
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the Power button, located on top of the phone
.
Once the phone has been activated, we'll see the lock screen.
2
To unlock the phone, swipe the screen upwards
.
Once the phone has been unlocked, we'll see the home screen. At the bottom, there will be icons.
3
Now, we need to find the "Settings" menu
.
To do that, we swipe the notification panel down. To do that, start right at the top of the screen and swipe downwards.
4
Now that the notification panel has appeared, here is the icon we're looking for
.
In the top right-hand corner of the screen, there is a white cog icon. This is our settings icon. Press down on it, and it will open up our "Settings menu".
5
We can see it says the word "Settings" in the top left-hand corner of the screen
.
6
Now we'll scroll down until we get to the "PERSONAL" section
.
We can see the word "PERSONAL" in a gray bar.
7
In this section, we are looking for the section called, "Accessibility"
.
Beside this word, is the icon of a hand. Press down on this section, and it will open our "Accessibility" options.
8
We want the first option at the top, it says, "TalkBack"
.
Press down on this. It will bring up the TalkBack section.
9
We are looking for the icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen
.
It looks like three small white squares in a vertical line. Press down on this icon. It will open up our menu.
10
There is only one option here, "Settings"
.
Press down on "Settings", and it will bring us into the TalkBack settings menu.
11
This is the option that we want to focus on in this video tutorial, "Speak when screen is off"
.
The TalkBack function allows the HTC One M8 to talk directly to us. It will tell us what the keys, buttons, and options are. It will also read the text to us. It is very good for people with limited sight or blind people. This TalkBack function can also allow the HTC One M8 to speak to us, even when the screen is off. It says, "Notifications are spoken when the screen is off." For anything we've set up to receive notifications, this TalkBack function will be able to speak to us. Currently, it's turned on. There is a green box with a white check in it. That means that this function is activated.
12
However, if we do not want the notifications to be spoken to us when the screen is turned off, then press down on the box
.
The check will disappear. We can see the option has changed, here. It now says, "No speech occurs when the screen is off." This is the current option selected.
13
If we do want to receive speech when notifications arrive and the screen is turned off, then press down on the box
.
Now, we will be spoken to when we receive notifications when the screen is turned off.
14
This then, concludes our tutorial on how to turn on or off the option to allow the TalkBack feature to speak when an HTC One M8 is sleeping
.
