To begin, let's turn the phone on by pressing the Power button located on the top of the phone

Once the phone has been activated, we'll see the Lock screen

To unlock the phone, press down on the screen and hold down until the Lock/Unlock icon appears towards the bottom, then swipe up

Let's go to the Settings menu by swiping the Notification panel down

Press down at the top of the screen and swipe down.

We can see the Notification panel has appeared

We need to scroll down until we get to the gray bar that says "PHONE"

In this section, we need the "Sound & notification" option, which is in the "PHONE" section

The words "Sound & notification" will be displayed, and there is an icon, which is a speaker emitting some sound waves. Press down on this icon, and it will take us into our "Sound & notification" options.

Let's scroll down until we get to the section that says "INCOMING CALLS", in the gray bar

We're looking for the option that says "Quiet ring on pickup", and underneath displays "Lower the ringer volume when I move the phone"
.
This can be a very useful option because it allows the phone to sense when it's moving. It will lower the ringer volume because it knows that someone is about to answer the phone call, and it doesn't need to be so loud.

We can see that the default for this option is that it is selected on the HTC One M8

There is a white check in a green box, indicating that this option is selected.

To deselect, press down on the box until the check has disappeared, and the phone ringtone volume will not change when the phone is moved
