Edited by Thor, Ash0hley, Eng
Hello, and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how we can turn on or off the option to suggest the next word while typing on an HTC One M8.
Steps
1
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the Power button, located on top of the phone
.
Once the phone has been activated, we'll see the lock screen.
2
To unlock the phone, press down on the screen
.
Hold down, and swipe up.
3
Once the phone has been unlocked, we'll see the home screen
.
At the bottom, there will be icons.
4
First, we're going to learn how this function works
.
We need to tap on the messages icon, located at the bottom of the home screen. It looks like a white text box with three green, horizontal lines in the middle. Press down on that, and our messages will open.
5
Choose a message we can use for a quick example
.
Press down on that message.
6
Then press down on the words "Add Text", in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen
.
7
Now it's going to bring up our keyboard
.
We are going to type a word. Let's write, "Hello". Tap space.
8
The next word is going to bring up a selection of suggested words that we could use as the next word, that we might want to use in this sentence
.
Here, there are three words.
9
Let's press down on the white arrow
.
It will bring up a list of more words.
10
It's going to bring up other words that may be connected, in a sentence, to the word, "Hello"
.
This option is currently turned on. This is the default setting on the HTC One M8. However, we may want to turn it off because we find that it just doesn't work for us and isn't predicting the words we would like to use.
11
If we want to turn it on or off, then we need to go back to the home screen
.
To do that, press the back arrow that looks like a 'V'. Press down on it multiple times, until we are on the home page.
12
Now that we're back at the home screen, we need to find the settings icon, for the "Settings" menu
.
To do that, we swipe the notification panel down. To do that, press down at the top of the screen, hold down, and swipe down.
13
Now that the notification panel has appeared, here is the icon we're looking for
.
In the top right-hand corner of the screen, there is a white cog icon. This is our settings icon. Press down on it, and it will open up our "Settings menu".
14
We can see it says the word "Settings" in the top left-hand corner of the screen
.
15
Now we'll scroll down until we get to the "PHONE" section
.
It says the word "PHONE" inside of a grey bar.
16
Scroll down further until we find the words "Language & keyboard"
.
Next to these words is an icon that looks like a capital 'A' inside of a 3D box. Press down on this section. It will open up our "Language & keyboard" options.
17
We want this option here, it says, "HTC Sense Input, Keyboard options." Press down on this section
.
18
In this menu, we are looking for this option
.
It says the words, "Advanced, More input settings." Press down on that.
19
Then, we want this option
.
It says, "Next word prediction. Suggest options for next word while typing." As we saw earlier, it is currently active. It shows a green box with a white check inside of it.
20
If we want to deactivate this setting, then press down on the box until it is empty
.
If we want to activate this setting, press down on the box. It will turn green, with a white check inside.
21
This then, concludes our tutorial on how to turn on or off the option for next word suggestions while typing on the HTC One M8
.
