Hello and welcome to VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to turn on and off the option to download attachments from Gmail to an HTC One M8.

   To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on top of the phone

   Once the phone has been activated we will see the lock screen.

   To unlock the phone, swipe the screen up

   Once the phone has been unlocked we will see the home screen, and at the bottom we will see 5 icons. We now need to open the application folder.

   We can do that by tapping the icon in the middle, at the bottom of the screen

   There is a grid of white dots. This is the icon for the applications folder.

   Now that the folder has been opened, we need to find and tap the Gmail application

   .

   There is a Gmail icon, which is an envelope with a red 'M', and underneath it says the word "Gmail". Your application may be in a different location, so look for the icon in your folder. We now need to find the settings menu.

   To do that, we need to tap the icon in the top left-hand corner

   There are 3 horizontal lines. This will open up a menu.

   Underneath it says, "Auto-download attachments to recent messages via WiFi". This option is currently activated, indicated by the blue box with the white check mark inside.

   To turn this option off so that it doesn't automatically download attachments, press down on the box

   The box will be empty, indicating that the option is deactivated.
