Hello and welcome to VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to turn on and off the option to allow the 'Instagram' application to periodically change the background image of the lock screen on the Microsoft Lumia 535.

Steps

    To get started, turn the phone on by pressing the power button on the right-hand side of the phone. This will reveal the lock screen.

    When you see the lock screen, swipe it up to unlock the phone and access the home screen.

    Find and press the Instagram tile to open the application. It is a navy blue background with a camera in the middle. In this example, it is on the bottom of the home screen. If the Instagram tile is not pinned to the home screen, swipe left and find it in the apps menu. In order to show how to activate this function, we need to go into the settings.

    To go to the settings, tap on the 3 blue dots in the bottom right-hand corner. This will open the menu.

    Tap on 'Settings' at the bottom of the screen. It is written in blue text. This will take us to the settings.

    We need to swipe left until we are in the 'preferences' section. It will say 'preferences' in a bold blue text.

    Tap on 'Lock Screen Settings', the second from last option. A prompt will appear at the top of the phone.

    Tap on 'yes' to apply the background or 'no' to cancel. It says, "Do you want to let this app change your lock screen background? It may update the background periodically." If we select yes, then the 'Instagram' application is going to change the background on the lock screen periodically. We're going to press 'yes'. Now the lock screen background is changed to Instagram.

    As we can see, it now says, "Instagram is your current lock screen provider, you can change it here", "here" is highlighted in blue, which means we can tap on it. We will be taken to the lock screen settings in the Microsoft Lumia 535 settings.

    The first option on this settings page is 'background', and underneath of it, it says 'Instagram BETA'; tap on that to bring up more options.

    Here we can select our lock screen background. We can change it back to 'photo' or another application if we choose to do so.
