Edited by Thor, Ash0hley, Jen M
Hello, and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how we can turn on or off the option to block offensive words, when using Google voice typing, on an HTC One M8.
Steps
1
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the Power button, located on top of the phone
.
Once the phone has been activated, we'll see the lock screen.
2
To unlock the phone, press down on the screen
.
Hold down, and swipe up.
3
Once the phone has been unlocked, we'll see the home screen
.
At the bottom, there will be icons.
4
Now, we need to find the "Settings" menu
.
To do that, we swipe the notification panel down. To do that, press down at the top of the screen, hold down, and swipe down.
5
Now we can see that the notification panel has appeared
.
Here, is the icon we're looking for. In the top right-hand corner of the screen, there is a white cog icon. This is our settings icon. Press down on it, and it will open up our "Settings" menu.
6
We can see it says the word "Settings" in the top left-hand corner of the screen
.
7
Now we'll scroll down until we get to the "PHONE" section
.
It will say the word "PHONE" in a grey bar.
8
Scroll down in this section until we find the words "Language & keyboard"
.
Beside "Language & keyboard", we will see an icon of a 3D box with the letter 'A' inside. Press down on this section.
9
Once the "Language & keyboard" section opens, we are looking for these words
:
"Google voice typing". Press down on this section, and another menu will appear.
10
The option we want says, "Block offensive words"
.
The default setting on the HTC One M8 is activated. It will block all of the offensive words. We may want to change this if we want to search for music that has offensive words in it, song titles, or content that contains offensive words. If this setting is turned on, it will be hard to search for these. If a child were using this, we may want to keep this turned on.
11
To turn it on or off, press down on the icon
.
The icon is currently blue. This means the setting is activated and working.
12
If we press down on the icon, it will turn it off again
.
It moves the circle to the left, the blue color is gone, and it is just a white icon. The setting is turned off.
13
We should make the choice that is right for us
.
We're going to leave it on. Press it again to turn it on. It will turn blue.
14
This then, concludes our tutorial on how to turn on or off the option to block offensive words when using Google voice typing on an HTC One M8
.
