Hello and welcome to VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to turn captions on and off on an HTC One M8.
Steps
1
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on top of the phone
.
Once the phone has been activated we will see the lock screen.

To unlock the phone, swipe the screen up
.
Once the phone has been unlocked we will see the home screen, and at the bottom we will see 5 icons. We need to find the Settings menu. To do that, we need to swipe the notification panel down.

Press your finger at the top of the screen and swipe downwards

This will open the notification panel.

We want to tap the white cog icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen

This is our settings icon and it will open up the settings menu. It will say the word "Settings" in the top left-hand corner of the screen when it is opened.

Let's scroll down and tap on "Accessibility" in the "PERSONAL" section

It has a hand icon. This will open up our accessibility options.

We want to tap on "Captions"

Right now, the captions are off, indicated by the word "OFF" in the switch at the top
.
To turn it on, press down on "OFF" and the switch will turn green.

We can see there is now a caption at the bottom of the image
.
The captions help explain situations and give more information about things that we can see such as images.

To turn them off, simply press down on the word "ON" at the top of the screen
.
