Edited by Freya, Crystal, Eng
Hello, you're watching VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to turn the captions on or off on a video in the YouTube application while using the iPhone 6.
Steps
1
To start, unlock the phone by pressing the 'home' button at the bottom of the screen or the 'lock' button on the right-hand side
.
2
Once the lock screen is up, simply swipe and enter your passcode
.
Alternatively, hold your finger onto the home button, which doubles as a fingerprint scanner, if you have that option enabled. This brings us to the home screen.
3
Find and tap on the 'YouTube' icon
.
The icon has a red frame, a white box inside the frame, and then a red triangle in the center of that. Tapping on the icon will open up the app.
4
This automatically takes us to this 'What to Watch' page with the recommended videos depending on what else you've watched
.
If you're not signed in, it will show you the most popular videos on YouTube.
5
Scroll through and find a video that you're interested in
.
Tap it to start watching it. It will automatically play the video.
6
To pause, just tap on the video and then tap on the pause icon, which is 2 vertical lines
.
There are also options around the edge of the video as well.
7
Tap on the 3 vertical dots in the top right corner
.
This will bring up 3 options.
8
Tap on the middle option which has the 2 'c' characters in a rectangle and says 'OFF' underneath of it
.
This will bring up a window at the bottom.
9
Tap on 'English (auto-generated) or 'Cancel'
.
It is currently set to 'No captions', indicated by the blue check mark on the left-hand side. We're going to tap on 'English'.
10
When the video starts to play, it will have the captions
.
11
To turn them off, tap on the 3 dots and select 'CC' again
.
12
Now there won't be a bar along the bottom of the screen.
13
To go back, drag the video down and swipe it away
.
This will bring us back to the 'What to Watch' page.
14
This concludes the tutorial on how to turn on captions on a video in the YouTube application on the iPhone 6
.
