How do I change the permission on the S4? I am using Windows XP explorer, and have transferred files, and it worked OK?
It sounds like the problems you are having are just the result of needing to update Air Drop, or disconnect and reauthorize your device. The methods we discussed in this article are specific to the Air Drop application, so that should solve your problem.
That said, there are actually a number of methods you can use to transfer files from the Samsung Galaxy S4 to your PC. If you would like to use other methods to transfer files, you can read about them in our guide on how to transfer files between the Samsung Galaxy S4 and PC.

Transferring files without using data cable?
I want to transfer files from my PC to Samsung S4 without data cable connection. what are the possible ways? The first method is sending an email to yourself from your PC and opening the email messages on the phone to save the contents. This is good to send a couple of pictures to yourself. Alternatively, go to https://www.dropbox.com, register, and start uploading your files from your PC to Dropbox. On your Galaxy S4, install Dropbox and you will be able to open the same shared folders from the phone by using the same log-in name and password.
The second method involves installing AirDroid. You will be able to open a web page on your computer that is shown on the screen after running AirDroid and enter the passcode from the same application. Then, you can just upload files by using the "Toolbox" section. Other applications that follow the same procedure are Wi-Fi File Explorer PRO (paid) and Wi-Fi File Transfer (free).
