Transfer Content from the Old iPhone to the New iPhone

You're watching VisiHow. In this tutorial, we're going to demonstrate how to move data from one iPhone to another. There are iPhone 5S (old) on the left and iPhone 6s Plus (new) on the right.
Steps

First of all, connect the old iPhone to the computer using the Lightning cable

Then, open up iTunes on the PC

You can also do this through iCloud, but for this demonstration let's use the iTunes method.

Once iTunes has opened and the phone has been connected to the computer, click the "iPhone" icon in the top left-hand corner of the iTunes menu

Click "This computer" under "Automatically Back Up"

Then, click "Back Up Now"

Once the back-up has been completed, iTunes will show "Latest Backup: Today 2:09 PM to this computer". Now, let's switch to iPhone 6s Plus (new).

If you've already set the new iPhone up, tap on "Settings"

Then, tap on "Reset" at the bottom

Then, tap on "Erase All Content and Settings."

Then, tap on "Erase iPhone"

Then, tap again on "Erase iPhone"

Enter your Apple ID password

When the phone resets, swipe right to set it up

Tap a language to choose it

Let's tap on "English".

Set up your WiFi network by tapping on a network and entering the password

Reenter the passcode you've created

Now tap on "Restore from iTunes Backup"

This is the second menu option. You will be asked to connect the phone to iTunes.

Use the Lightning-to-USB cable and connect the phone to the computer

Your computer will be connected to the new iPhone.

Click the "Restore from this backup" drop-down menu

Select the back-up from the old phone

You can identify it by the date and time. In this video, it can be identified by "Today 2:09 PM".

Enter the password for the iPhone and click "OK"

The phone will reboot.

Swipe right to unlock the phone

Enter the passcode that you've just created

Swipe right to set up the new iPhone

The phone will show "Update Completed".

Enter the password for the iCloud account

Alternatively, tap on "Skip This Step".

After entering the password, tap on "Next"

Tap on the old phone icon and name

You will verify it through the existing old iPhone.

A "Verification Code" will be sent to the old iPhone.

Enter the verification code into the new iPhone

It's "4955" in this video. The phone will offer to set up Pay from Apple.

Then, tap on "Approve from Other Device"

This will set up iCloud Key chain if you use iCloud.

The phone will offer to set up Siri.

Let's tap on "Turn On Siri Later"

The new iPhone will have been set up. You'll see that it will have all of the applications and the wallpaper restored. It will look the same as your previous iPhone.

Look for any grayed out applications

When apps are grayed out, you need to authorize your computer to use iTunes.

From the iTunes menu on the computer, click "Store"

Then, click "Authorize This Computer..."

Enter the Apple ID password

Once you have done this, the grayed out items will become normal. For the most part, the new iPhone is the same as the old iPhone and has all of the information imported.

For example, tap on Notes on the new phone
.
The phone will launch Notes and show all of the notes that you had on your previous iPhone. This was a successful transfer. One item that will not be transferred over is the fingerprint database and phone-specific codes for unlocking. All of the old content and wallpapers will be imported into the new phone.
