There are many ways to transfer contacts from your Windows PC or Mac to your Samsung Galaxy S4. You can sync Microsoft Outlook contacts, or the contacts in your address books using Samsung Kies. You can also sync contacts from your Google account. Read this VisiHow article to learn more.
Sync Outlook contacts to your Samsung Galaxy S4 using Samsung Kies
- 1Download the latest version of Samsung Samsung Kies to your phone. Depending on your computer's operating system, click the "Download" button for Windows or Mac.
- 2After downloading Samsung Kies, install the application on your computer.
- 3After the installation, open Samsung Kies on your computer.
- 4Samsung Kies will indicate that a connection has been successfully made.Use a USB cable to connect your Samsung Galaxy S4 to your computer.
- 5This is an indicator that the connection has been properly made. If your phone is not detected by your computer, try to disconnect and reconnect the USB cable.Upon connection, Samsung Kies will show your device name.
- 6Click on the tab next to it "Sync Tab" to view items that can be synced between your computer and your Samsung Galaxy S4.By default, you will be on the "Basic Information" tab.
- 7Depending on your operating system, you will be able to do any of the following:
- On Mac: Click on the check box for "Sync Contacts with Address book". There will be no drop-down menu with the application.
- On Windows: Click on the check box for "Sync Contacts With". From the drop-down menu, select what application (Outlook, Windows Contacts, Google, Yahoo) has the contacts you want to sync.
- When you choose Outlook, there is data you need to select. You can choose "All Contacts" to sync all contacts from your Outlook account to your phone, or choose the "Selected Contacts" folder to choose a contact/s from a selected contact folder.
- Under the Syncing Direction option, choose how you want the syncing to be done. You can choose to sync both contacts from your device and Outlook, or apply syncing to your Samsung Galaxy S4 only, or to your Outlook account only.
- You can put a check mark on the option "Sync The Outlook Category With The Contact Group Of The Device" so when you sync contacts, it will automatically go to the same contact groups and be on the same group, just like on the original device. - When you choose Outlook, there is data you need to select. You can choose "All Contacts" to sync all contacts from your Outlook account to your phone, or choose the "Selected Contacts" folder to choose a contact/s from a selected contact folder.
- 8When you're done setting your desired options, click on the "Sync" button, located on the upper-right part of Samsung Kies.
- 9Wait for the syncing activity to complete and you are done transferring your contacts from your computer to your Samsung Galaxy S4.

I've installed Kies3 on my Windows Vista PC, but there isn't a 'Sync' tab.
Do I need to download another version?
Kies 3 will automatically detect your phone when plugged in. When you first installed Kies 3, it also installed the necessary USB drivers for your compatible Samsung smart phone. The connection status should be on the program's top left corner. SEE SCREEN SHOT HERE.
I've installed Kies for Mac, but in the sync tab there is no option for Outlook contacts.
Am I doing something wrong ?
No. You aren't doing anything wrong. Unfortunately, that feature is not included in Kies when installed on your mac. You can try and use the other options instead.

If you've been able to sync your contacts from Samsung Kies, or you have a backup file from your previous phone on your computer, you can restore the contacts using the backup you made by doing the following:
- Download and install the Samsung Kies program on your computer.
- Open Samsung Kies program.
- Go to back up/restore tab.
- Click restore data.
- Tap select back up file to restore.
- Look for back up file.
- Click restore button.
- Click OK to continue.
- Click complete when finished.

How to transfer phone contacts from my old clamshell phone, to Win PC and then from Win PC to Samsung S4?
That would depend on the old clamshell phone you're using. Most old phones aren't able to transfer contacts from one device to another, unless you are going to send those contacts via Bluetooth or Business Card. You will not be able to sync or pair your Clamshell to the current generation phones, so you will not be able to send contacts from your old clamshell phone to your new Samsung Galaxy S4. You can try use Bluetooth, but it may or may not work. Another way of sending those contacts from your old clamshell phone is by sending them through a Business Card. Sending it through business Card will require sufficient credit.
If the above-mentioned is not applicable for you, you need to write the phone numbers on a piece of paper, then type them manually onto your mobile phone. You can also check them on the phone itself then type them onto your Samsung Galaxy S4

Hi, I need to transfer my Contacts & Notes from either: 1) Nokia C7 to Samsung Galaxy Note5. or 2) Microsoft Outlook to Samsung Galaxy Note5. I have all my Contacts & Notes in Nokia PC Suite and also in Microsoft Outlook. Thanks
