Questions and Answers

I have all of the above equipment/stuff, but when I scan for nearby devices, my LG DLNA Enabled Smart TV does not show up.

I've tried many times but it still does not work.

When you mention having all of the equipment, are you including the Samsung Galaxy S4 in that list, and the other elements? The reason is that older models sometimes do not connect as well.

That said, if you have all of these devices, including the S4, then you should attempt a soft reset, either by holding the power button down for 20 seconds, or removing your battery. Then, turn on your wireless network. After that, turn on your TV, and then turn on your phone.

Try to connect that way, and you should see some better success. If not, then you will need to contact LG, as there is likely an issue with your television (many users report this problem, which is specific to the LG set not being fully DLNA compliant).

There are some problems with select LG model televisions not being 100% DLNA compliant. If you have one such television, there are certain steps you can take to try and get it to work, which have been described in detail earlier in this Q&A section. Please reference those steps.

In the event you are still unable to get it to work, you should consider contacting your local TV repair shop, to see if they are familiar with this problem. They may have a model specific solution that will work for you.

Stream video from Samsung S4 to Samsung Smart TV?

Screen mirroring does not work

If, for some reason, you cannot connect to your Samsung Smart TV (it might be a pre-2013 model), then you can buy an MHL adapter for your phone and an HDMI cable. Run the MHL adapter into your phone, and connect the HDTV cable with Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Smart TV. Select the HDMI input on Samsung Smart TV, and it will be mirrored.

Alternatively, you can buy an AllShare Cast device: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-All-Share-Wireless-Display-Adapter/dp/B0089VO7MY. Connect it to your TV. On your phone, go to "Settings" > "Connections" > "Screen mirroring". Enable "Screen mirroring". The AllShare Cast device should appear on the device list. Tap on it to start mirroring the smartphone.
