   To begin, the phone needs to be unlocked

   Swipe the screen

   Enter your passcode or use the fingerprint scanner

   Find the Gmail icon, which is this one here with the envelope

   Tap on it once. We'll see that when it's opened up that it already has access to an email address so it's taken us to our primary email list. Refer to another video where it is explained how to connect an email with the Gmail application.

   Open up an email that we'd like to favorite

   Tap once on the grey outlined star located at the top where it says the title of the email

   It will turn yellow and that means that this specific email has been selected as favorite

   To view any starred or favorited emails, tap on "Primary" located at the top-left of the screen

    Emails can be unstarred by going to the email and tapping on the star once more to turn it grey
