    Fill your clear glass with some water

    Make sure that you have adult supervision for this experiment since we will be using a lighter and candle

    Light the candle using your lighter

    Use your tongs to pick up the egg, then pass it through the flame

    You want to coat the entire outside layer of the egg in soot from the candle
    .
    You know you have correctly covered the egg when the shell is dark black all the way around.

    Pick up your egg using the tongs and place it in your cup underwater

    If you try this experiment and the egg is not as shiny as you would like it to be, give it a second pass through the candle's flame
