Hi. You are watching VisiHow, and this is a tutorial on how to make file extensions visible on Windows 7 computers.
Steps
1
As you can see I have a New Text Document on the desktop, but it is lacking the extension, which means that after the name of the document there should be ".txt" but it is not visible therefore you can not change it if you need to
.
2
To make it visible, you need to go to the Control Panel by clicking on Start menu button
.
3
Then click on the Control Panel
.
4
Once you are in the Control Panel you need to go to Appearance and Personalization
.
5
From here you need to select Folder Options
.
6
7
There are three tabs General, View, and Search, you need to tap on View and then scroll down and you have to find this section "Hide extensions for a known file Types"
8
Then you need to untick it and press OK
.
9
Now the Extensions are visible and you can close the Control Panel
.
10
As you can see that the name of the text documents is changed and now it is showing a New Text Document.txt
11
From here you can change the extension if you need to or you can just be aware of what extension it actually is
.
12
This concludes our tutorial on how to make file extensions visible on Windows 7 computers
.
