Edited by Freya, Amanda, Eng, Inukshuk
You're watching VisiHow. In this video, I'm going to show you how you can sharpen and sharpen edges in a video clip in Photoshop CS6 in Windows 7. As you can see, I've already opened Photoshop CS6 and imported a video. I have my layers on the right-hand side, and my timeline at the bottom.
Steps
- 1
- 2This basically just flattens the layer for us, so we can treat it as an image, rather than lots of individual images, like a video would normally be. We can do this by clicking "Layer" in the top navigation bar. Click "Smart Objects" and then click "Convert to Smart Object".Convert the layer to a smart object.

- 4
- 5A very subtle difference can be seen on the canvas. There are no options or settings to adjust. This is good if we just want to gradually build up a sharpen effect. However, we wouldn't recommend it for creating a dramatic effect. For that, it's better to use something like the smart sharpen tool.Click "Sharpen" in the menu that appears upon hovering.

- 9We can't see much difference on our video yet, but if we were to play it, it would be noticeable. Sharpen edges basically takes the general edges, for example, around one of our trees, and sharpens those. It does not sharpen the content inside. It can have a nice, almost soft focus effect, depending on what we're working with.Click "Sharpen Edges".
