Press the Home button, the circular button below the screen, to turn the screen on

Find and tap the Facebook Messenger icon to open the Facebook Messenger application

The Facebook Messenger icon is a blue chat bubble with a white lightning bolt, on a white background. In this tutorial, we will set up the ability to share our location in the Facebook Messenger app. For example, we will tap on our first message. Our friend has referenced a restaurant in her message. However, she has not given us any details about where the restaurant is. However, with the option enabled, our friend's current location will have been sent along with the message. To view the current location, tap on the message. A map will appear beneath the message. To view a larger map, we can tap on the map, and tap "View in Maps" to open the location in the Maps application, or we can tap on "Get Directions" to get directions to the location, using the Maps application. Our friend's location will appear in the Maps application, and we can look at the map to determine which restaurant she was referring to. The following steps will describe how to send our current location in a reply.

Return to the Facebook Messenger application by pressing the Home button, and then tapping on the Facebook Messenger icon

Open a Facebook Messenger conversation and type a message

Tap the blue or gray arrow icon to the right of the message input field to enable or disable the option to send the current location

If the arrow icon is blue, the option is enabled and our current location will be sent along with the message. If it is gray, the option is disabled.

Once the message has been typed, and the arrow icon is blue, tap "Send" to send the message with our current location attached

Tap our message to determine if our friend has read the message

If it has been read, it will say "Read" beneath the message. Otherwise, it will say "Delivered". Our friend may have seen the notification, but has not opened the application to read it yet. If we tap on our friend's message, it will read "Seen", as we have seen the message.
